SAFEGUARDING

Our Commitment to Safeguarding

Liberty Life Global is committed to creating and maintaining safe environments for children, young people and adults who engage with our ministries, projects, schools, events, missions and charitable activities.

We believe that every person has the right to be treated with dignity, respect and care and to be protected from abuse, exploitation, neglect and avoidable harm.

Safeguarding is the responsibility of everyone who works with or represents Liberty Life Global, including trustees, leaders, employees, ministry workers, volunteers and those acting on behalf of LLG.

Liberty Life Global seeks to:

● Take all safeguarding concerns seriously.

● Respond promptly and appropriately to disclosures, allegations and concerns.

● Promote safe recruitment and appropriate screening of staff and volunteers.

● Provide appropriate safeguarding training and supervision.

● Maintain clear standards of conduct and appropriate personal boundaries.

● Listen to children, young people and adults at risk.

● Work appropriately with parents, carers, statutory agencies and safeguarding professionals.

● Maintain appropriate safeguarding records.

● Protect confidentiality while sharing information where necessary to protect an individual from harm.

● Apply safeguarding principles to both in-person and online activities.

● Promote environments free from abuse, exploitation, harassment, bullying and coercion.

International Activities

Liberty Life Global works with churches, schools, ministries, organisations and communities in different countries.

We recognise that safeguarding legislation and statutory structures differ between jurisdictions. LLG is committed to applying appropriate safeguarding standards while also complying with relevant local law and working with appropriate local authorities and safeguarding agencies.

Organisations operating in partnership with LLG may retain their own governance and safeguarding responsibilities. Where appropriate, LLG will seek assurance that suitable safeguarding arrangements are in place.

Children and Young People

Anyone working on behalf of Liberty Life Global with children or young people is expected to maintain appropriate boundaries and follow relevant safeguarding procedures.

Where applicable, recruitment may include references, interviews, criminal-record or background checks, safeguarding declarations and appropriate training.

Reporting a Concern

Anyone who becomes aware of a safeguarding concern connected with Liberty Life Global should report it promptly to the designated safeguarding contact.

Individuals should not attempt to conduct their own investigation into allegations of abuse.

Where someone is in immediate danger or a serious crime may have been committed, the appropriate emergency services or statutory authorities should be contacted without delay.

Confidentiality

Safeguarding information will be handled sensitively and shared only where appropriate.

Confidentiality cannot be promised where information indicates that a child, adult at risk or another person may be at risk of harm.

Accountability

Liberty Life Global is committed to openness, accountability and responsible safeguarding practice.

Safeguarding arrangements and procedures will be reviewed periodically and updated where necessary in response to legislation, guidance, organisational development and experience.
